Chris Hunter - I Ride for Cancer

Howdy! My Name is Chris Hunter and I’m the founder of I Ride for Cancer. Since this is an inaugural ride – I want to introduce myself. I have been riding since July 2011 and have participated in one big ride that equaled 170 miles. In 2011, I’ve ridden around 2,000 miles total.

So with all of this in mind, I’ve committed to riding a little over 1,500 miles in June of 2012 from MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Am I Crazy? Why am I Doing This?

Yes. Probably just a little bit. I’m riding 1,500+ miles to raise awareness and money for Pancreatic Cancer Research. You see, my Dad, Michael Hunter, passed away a little over two years ago from Pancreatic Cancer. One of the last things he asked of me was to do something to rid the world of this terrible disease.

Pancreatic Cancer is one of the most deadly cancers. It’s 5 year survival rate is 4%. It’s called the silent killer because you don’t know you have it until it’s too late.

Then once you’ve been diagnosed, you’re basically fed poisons until your body just gives up. There has to be something better and that’s why I ride. I ride for Pancreatic Cancer Research. I ride for my Dad. I ride for myself. I ride for my kids and my wife.

I ride for cancer. What do you ride for?

Follow along on this blog as I train for and complete this epic ride. If you are interested in helping in any way at all with the I Ride for Cancer project, please contact me at [email protected].

Thanks and God be with you!
